counterfeit Mitutoyo objectives

#1 Post by Dror » Thu Sep 06, 2018 2:24 pm

Hi,

I am interested in purchasing used Mitutoyo objectives (such as this one: https://www.edmundoptics.com/f/EO-Infin ... ves/13506/) for research purposes.
I have searched on Ebay for such objectives but I am concerned that some of them might not be genuine Mitutoyo objectives.
Is there a way to distinguish between genuine Mitutoyo objectives and counterfeits?

Thanks in advance.

Duh!!! those are EO objectives. It says right in the advert, which is what the advertisement is proclaiming.. they are designed to work in a Mitutoyo system but no where does it say they are Mitutoyo , nor are they counterfeit.

Here is Edmund Optics' list of Mitutoyo branded objectives, for comparison:

... and for completeness, their list of all things Mitutoyo:

Hi Dror

The Mitutoyo catalogue specifies, for each objective, not only the optical characteristics, but also the exact size, diameter, and mass. To reproduce such features one has to "design" an objective of his own... would that be profitable? I doubt it.

The brand Correct, probably made by Kyowa are made for Mituyoyo systems. Edmund Optics, who have used Kyowa as a supplier for years , no doubt are getting those optics made by them. They also show up with the name Seiwa on them.

Sorry for the mistake, The link shows EO objectives and I meant Mitutoyo Infinity corrected objectives.
Anyway, thanks for the help.
