Olympus Stereozoom Model
Olympus Stereozoom Model
Hi folks,
This microscope is for sale in my part of the world.
I can't work out the model.
It's not often google lets me down but this is one of them.
Any ideas ?
I guess being Olympus as long as the controls and optics are fine it should be a decent scope.
Thanks

Re: Olympus Stereozoom Model
Maybe an immediate predecessor to their SZ series proper? Here is a similar but trinocular example on one of their old gem scopes, which I think were from the late 60s.

The other jm series gem scope of theirs I have seen had a normal early sz head with the round snoot.

Thanks Scarodactyl,
That's certainly the closest I've seen.
It's an unusual shape head as far as I can find for Olympus.
I've seen the stage / base on a couple of SZ's.

I recognise the stand, from the Macro equipment ... So this might be of some interest:

Thanks Michael
A versatile unit.
Have blown up a couple of other pics on the listing.
It appears as though the scope only goes up to 31x rather than the 40x of the JM
Unusual beast

Yes, that's the beast Michael
It's a lot newer than I suspected, 1985.
Now to see what it gets to in the auction.

Re: Olympus Stereozoom Model
Curious if anyone knows the working distance and field of view of those older "Greenough" design Olympus stereo microscopes? I've had several of the Olympus SZ (stereo zoom) microscopes, which are excellent, and with essentially the same transmitted stand and focus mechanism as Grahame's example. Never had one of the Greenough-type ones.
