Lomo Polam C-111 Polarizing Microscope

Greetings microscope enthusiasts!

I recently placed an order for a NOS (new old stock) Lomo C-111 polarizing microscope listed on Ebay from Italy. I have totally struck out with finding anything at all on the internet about it. The closest I have come is to find the model Polam C-112 which is very similar. Has anyone heard about this microscope or have any links or documentation for it? I would greatly appreciate any help at all towards solving this mystery!

Hi Gay,
nice instrument! These russians really had a wide model range and some very special microscope items.

I have a biological compond microscope with the same stand. There is not much to be found about them. I think they were made in the 1990s when the USSR was finished and anarchy ruled in russia.

Wow, that's a huge Lomo resource! This is really, really appreciated. It will take me quite a while but I'm going to download all of the docs there.

I'm attaching another photo of my microscope (I had to resize it down to be accepted).


Yahoo Groups has a Lomo microscope sub group. I sure hope we can get some more Lomo lovers to come over and join us. Not much activity for a while. I'm friends with the moderator.


After I get the microscope I'll be posting some more photos and questions. I'm pretty new to microscopes, especially polarizing. Actually, I've been collecting for quite some time but now that I'm finally retired I will have time to use them!

The biolam microscopes sold very well in many countries but many other Lomo microscopes are quite rare. While there may be 1 Zeiss West Phomi or Universal or Leitz Orthoplan or Zeiss Jena NF on 50 basic microscopes of the brand it will be a relation of 1:1000 with many of the rarer Lomos. If you have a specific question you could contact Wolfgang, the owner of the Lomo Infothek. He is a very nice guy and though I don't know how good his english is he will be able to decipher your question and answer it.

Over in the Yahoo group Microscope I posted and got this as a reference to my microscope. I ran the Russian through a translator and found out that you have to log in to get the docs. Now I have to give this a try and see what happens

Good to see you here Gary! That scope seems to have a lot in common with my two big LOMO scopes. I hope it makes the journey from Italy quickly and safely!

Just an update that my wonderful, new Lomo Polam C-111 arrived from Italy and in great condition!

It sure would ne nice to hear from other Lomo owners (even if you don't have a polarizing model)!!!
