Help identifying this objective
Help identifying this objective
Hello!
I recently bought a Wild M11 microscope that came with 3 Wild objectives (achromatics 20, 40, 100HI) plus this lower magnification one, that I haven't been able to identify. Do you know what it could be?
There are no additional markings on it besides the one shown in the pictures. It is almost parfocal with the 20 and 40 ones.
I wish you can help me.
All the best,
Ricardo

Re: Help identifying this objective
Judging by the apparent diameter of the front lens element, I would guess it is somewhere between a 5x and 10x - probably a 10x. But other than that, I've no idea.

There is another of that brand, listed on ebay:

But I regret I have never heard anything about S&H

Hi Ricardo,
this might be "Spindler & Hoyer".
They are more into industrial optics.

Re: Help identifying this objective
Many thanks Jim, Bob and Michael,
I found a couple of images of camera lenses of the same brand with the same logo, so definitely Spindler & Hoyer (I also found some pictures of a nice pocket microscope they manufactured around 1925... Would be nice to find one of those).
And, yes Jim, the magnification is close to 10x. I just wonder why no markings to indicate that in the barrel. Likely industrial optics as Bob says. Image quality seems good, but I'm just starting to play with the M11 and achieving proper field illumination is still my main problem.
Best regards,
Ricardo

The yellow inscribed ring on the barrel means it is an 10X.rserpell wrote:And, yes Jim, the magnification is close to 10x. I just wonder why no markings to indicate that in the barrel.
