Leitz 1.32 OEL Condenser top

#1 Post by einman » Thu Jan 03, 2019 11:41 pm

So I finally located a 1.32 na condenser top. This one fits the Condenser on my Dialux 20. Although I have played with adapting a Zeiss 1.4 na Condenser top to a Leitz Condenser, I never had a standard for comparison, other than a 0.90 na Leitz top.
I am eager to set aside time to try out the various Oil immersion objectives I have collected. More to come.

Nice to be able to get just the top and it fulfills your needed spec. Searching out that perfect engine of the optical train that brings your most demanding objectives to their intended station , sometimes takes a little time.

These higher end condensers are so few for certain scopes and for sure, quite a few were made. I think that the answer of their scarcity, is that most are still in use, still meeting current requirements.

Can I add my Zeiss 1.4 top on my leitz 402a condenser?

Yes,
I have often wondered why so few seem to be available. I have been looking for years and inevitably I was always a bid too late. Actually there is a 1.4 na condenser top out there somewhere that will fit my Diaplan condenser. This top fits my Dialux 20 condenser. I could switch the entire condenser from the Dialux 20 to the Diaplan, but functionalities differ. It would work, but there is part of me that prefers to keep the scopes as intended. So I will set the Dialux 20 up with the oil objectives.

I had an adapter made to put the Zeiss 1.4 na top onto my Leitz condenser. Although it worked and seemed to improve resolution I can not say how it compared to a Leitz condenser properly fitted with the correct 2.4 or 1.32 condenser top. It had some issues when trying to properly set up koehler resolution. I will find out soon enough.

Finally got around to testing the condenser top with my Klemp Diatom test slide. The results were simply astounding. The Nikon 40X/1.3 oil as simply beautiful as was the Leitz 63/1.3 oil. Every detail stood out! The 63X/1.3 Leitz objective was much more sensitive to the amount of oil used. I plan on posting some pics later once I sort out my lab. Everything is in disarray and I prefer to tether the camera to my laptop to minimize movement.

I also have 10x/0.45, and a 20X/0.75 oil leitz objectives on the same turret but given the size of the diatoms the view was not nearly as spectacular. The 100x/1.32 although beautiful was not quite as nice as the 40X and 63X objectives. It also seemed very particular to the amount of oil used.

All in all I am satisfied with my purchase as it enabled me to use objectives that up until now had just been sitting.

Is that the Zeiss 1.4 top?

Can you show the adapter you used? Just curious.

Glad it worked well!

If it´s still the case that you haven’t found the condenser top 1.4 oil, try to contact www.optovid.de .
Some time ago I bought there the darkfield condenser top (excellent quality). At that time he had the Apl. 1.4 oil top available, which unfortunately doesn't fit my Laborlux 12 condenser. Good luck!
AND: If one day you think about selling your Apl. 1,32 OEL top, PLEASE let me know. Like you, I am searching for years now for this special condenser top…. :-)
Best regards

Great! Don't worry about the money, I would be willing to pay you a very good price for the 1.32 top.

Hi,
have you already been in contact with Optovid? Of course, I’m very curious to know… ;-)
As I am an existing client of them and a native speaker, just let me know if I can help.
