Zeiss head conversion

#1 Post by Glycolyse » Sun Feb 03, 2019 1:28 pm

Hi everyone,

Soon, I'd like to change my binocular head from my Zeiss Standard 14, to a trinocular one. There are a bunch on eBay. How do you know some kinds are suitable for my microscope, and some others aren't ?

There are two trinocular heads that you might want, the 47 30 28 and the 47 30 26

The 47 30 28 is preferable as it gives either 100 to the eyepieces or 20 eyepiece/80 to the phototube.

The 47 30 26 gives either 100 eyepiece or 100 phototube.

Pity you did not bid for this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zeiss-Micros ... 7675.l2557

Thank you 75RR. What are the numbers "100/100, "80/20" ?

Fun fact: I actually saw this trinocular head, but couldn't buy it (I mentioned why in a previous thread if you remember). I am very sad aha !

Have (hopefully) made it clearer:

The 47 30 28 is preferable as it gives either 100% light to the eyepieces (position 1) or 20% light to the eyepiece and 80% light to the phototube (position 2)

The 47 30 26 gives either 100% light to the eyepiece (position 1) or 100% light to the phototube (Position 2).

In shorthand: eyepiece first, phototube second:

47 30 28: 100/0 and 20/80

47 30 26: 100/0 and 0/100
