Regreasing Fluoval/Amplival 1.4 condenser

#1 Post by Piter_ » Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:31 pm

Hi Forum.
I have got an old Fluoval microscope. Most of things working fine but condenser centering screws are not moving.
Any recommendations what to do with them?

It looks like this. The same as in Amplival microscope.
Thanks.

Hi Piter,
there are 2 screws and one spring loaded plunger. You dismantle it, clean the screw threads, remove and clean spring and plunger and assemble again with grease. Then it works again as intendet.
To make disassembly easier you can heat the unit with a hair dryer to max 60°C.
If it is a good achr. apl. condenser I would avoid heating it.

Hi Bob.
Thanks.
I managed to take apart optics and the diaphragm. The rest I soaked in isopropanol overnight and screws started to rotate. After cleaning I put some vacuum grease on it. Now it works like intended.
