How to take apart Amplival like focus drive?
Re: How to take apart Amplival like focus drive?
Hi Petro,
Zeiss Jena microscopes, especially the Microval series, often suffer from hardened grease.
It helps to gently warm the instrument after removing the optical components. An electric room heater is useful here. Be careful with heat guns and hair dryers, the are not always up to continuous use.
You might place the question in the german www.mikroskopie-forum.de . There are people there who have worked on these microscopes.

Hi Bob.
Thanks.
I have been considering it. But my knowledge of German have stopped me from it.
I guess I will try, but I will need someone to help me to register. I was under impression that there was a small English branch on the German forum but was not able to find it.
Best.
Petro.

Hi Petro,
you can translare whole websites with google translator. DeepL ist said to offer still better english - german translations.
https://translate.google.de/translate?h ... e-forum.de
You would have to say hello in "Mikroskopiker im Netz" after registering.
This works fairly well if you need specific information you can't get in this forum. Especially about Zeiss Jena /West, Leitz and to some ettent Olympus.
