Zeiss DIC Prism

#1 Post by microb » Mon May 18, 2020 5:29 pm

So I want to measure this and then take it apart since it has delamination. Then measure it some more. Then use optical adhesive and reassemble. Hopefully it measures the same way again.

I know someone took a DIC prism apart and posted some notes earlier. If there are ideas on how to mark it so it can be assembled the same way again, and ways to undo the mounting epoxy, please let me know.

Thanks,
Ted

Or you could use a needle to make a small incursion in the silicon seal and cement on the edge of the prism using a needle then dip it in immersion oil for a few hours. People have fixed their delaminated Zeiss condenser DIC prisms this way.

The prismn actually does not look so bad. It is just peripherial delamination anyway. My personal experience is, that delaminated condensor prismn perform without any visible difference compared to none delaminated. The Objective slider prisms seem to be more critical.

I got this prism for way cheaper than others that can be found on e-bay. So eventually taking this apart is a part of my DIC prism project (viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8755).
