Olympus DIC Prisms

#1 Post by microb » Fri May 22, 2020 12:59 am

So I got a little push forward on my measuring of DIC prisms getting this lot of optics:

U-DICT
U-ANT
U-DP10
U-DPA20
U-DP40
U-DPAO40
U-DPAO60

There are some prisms I do not have with an S on the end. Please let know what those are configured for.

Thanks.

I'd imagine they go with the U-DICTS upper prism; which (I'm told) shifts up and down rather than back and forth.

U-DICTS -- thanks.

I'll have to find out more, and figure out the optics on that one.

I'm sure your persistence will pay. Don't give up.

How do you measure the exact dimensions of the prisms? Do you use a refractometer as well?

There is a paper by a Michael Shribak, where a Sénarmont compensator set-up was used to measure the shear angle of DIC. So I'm going to duplicate their set up to match the numbers given for U-DICT. They also did U-DICTHC and U-DICTHR, but I don't have those. I don't think they did any of the condenser prisms.
