I can’t connect these parts of my microscope.
There seems to be a spring loaded screw of sorts that responds to pressure - it should sorta snap in place?
Any thoughts?
Zeiss Standard - help
Re: Zeiss Standard - help
Sometimes the spring loaded studs are pretty stuck, you can make it return to normal with a couple drops of kerosene(use paper towels or something to keep it from dripping on any optics)
To attach these you loosen the thumbscrew and then slide the top part against the spring loaded plunger it will then allow you to drop the rest of it in place where you can then tighten up the thumbscrew

The lower pin in your photo is spring loaded. You press it in with the canted dovetail ring, lower the dovetail ring fully into the seat. When you release the pressure against the spring the dovetail is pushed angainst the two pins on the other side. The spring loaded pins are often stuck. To get them going it is best to dismantle them. There is a little circlip that can be pried of with a small crew driver. The tube head is not only held by the spring but there should be a hollow nut that is screwed against the spring loaded pin to secure it. These get lost sometimes.

Re: Zeiss Standard - help
I have found some stuck pins but an easy fix is take the cap off, add some solvent or lubricant and work the pin back and forth until it frees up and moves easily.
