Need info on Parts 162226 and 404207

If you have this parts could you please tell me it length and how far is the relay lens from the top in the 404207 part

Thanks so much

No one has this phototube to help me to design it in 3D: I only need two lengths.
Thanks

I'm interested in this too. I would like to machine an identical photo tube.

clipi, is the tube you posted for the 160 or 170mm TL?

Thanks

It is uncommon and kind of expensive now.
It's also pretty much obsolete. It makes more sense to suspend a high quality modern 40 or 50mm lens above the eyepiece in the photo tube rather than the simple 60mmish achromat they provided back in the day. So you just need something that will clamp on the outside of the 40mm tube and allow attachment of a lens's filter threads.

I want to get a 40mm lens but right now too many other priorities. For the time being I am working with what I have which is the 0.32x relay lens and my Canon T7. I have read through many threads on this and another forum that show about 6 pieces that make up the complete photo tube system for the Orthoplan. Although what I have seems to work I am curious about the other components.

For me, if it's not worth the effort I will move on, however, the OP may have a different opinion.

Thanks for speaking up!

These are the full components of the phototube.
Some people prefer this method since uses less optics lenses.
I love to see a comparative review of both methods.

I was not able to get your image to load.

I agree it would be neat to see a comparison!

Thank You! That is a very helpful pic!

I wonder is it possible to get the dimensions needed from the picture by using a known dimension of one of the other pieces? I have # 376110 and I can provide the dimensions if someone has the software to do it?

.

I should be able to do that, to a reasonable approximation.

Michael,

Thank you I really appreciate this!

For clarification, I can't see the part number but I think I have the piece on the far right hand side of the top photo and that is the part I'm measuring.

Mine is marked as follows,
Leitz PERIPLAN GF 12.5x "glasses" "dot"
Leitz PERIPLAN 10x "glasses" "dot"
376110

The only difference I see is that the tube length is marked on the one in the photo which mine does not show.

The overall length is, 4.330" which is about 110mm. Luckily the image shows the entire length including the bevel so it should be fairly accurate.

If anyone has the 170mm TL version I would really appreciate it if they could measure the length? I would like to know the difference.

Thanks again for the help!
Kirby

Here is a first stab:

A67CF1B8-FDD0-4F45-AF3E-6435E65BA92B.jpeg (137.29 KiB) Viewed 5298 times
.

I had to estimate the relevant endpoints, because there is quite a lot of perspective in the photo.
... in the absence of a ‘telecentric’ lens, the only way we could get significantly better is to repeat the photography with a longer focal length, from further away.

Let me know if you need any more dimensions picked-off.

Micheal,

That's perfect! Thank you so much!

This get's me close enough to what Leitz was doing but ultimately I want to build a versatile tube with a rack and pinion. I want to test some of my vintage and antique optics and it's a pain to raise and lower the tube by hand.

Thanks again for the help!
