Is it generally ok to swap individual lenses between components like eyepieces or objectives?

Is it generally ok to swap individual lenses between components like eyepieces or objectives?

So far, in the case of the Reichert 181 eyepieces for example, I have been careful to keep the lenses within each eyepiece together thinking is is possible they could have been binned/selected into well-matched pairs during manufacturing.

Hi Hans,
I would keep this practice. Of components with identical designations there are several versions and sometimes they actually selected optimal combinations.
