Below are some images of Copepods - there are 3 main types 1) Calanoida 2) Cyclopoida and 3) Harpacticoida - I am still trying to find some Harpacticoids.
The Calanoida have very long antenna, but most of the time when mounted on a slide they turn onto their side despite my efforts, finally decided to photograph them without a coverslip and got the antenna to spread out laterally. The cyclopoida copepods are often caught close to shore, the Calanoids I have had more luck catching them with a plankton net. The Nauplius larva showing a red light are very rare and you are not likely to see one unless you collect them at night in northern Canada when there is an aurora - Hope you have a sense of humour.
All collected from small freshwater ponds over the summer.
