Another Euplotes from the North Sea

#1 Post by janvangastel » Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:40 am

I found another Euplotes in my North Sea sample. With a 40 micron length it is smaller then the former one (57 microns). This one also has algae in its body, but it looks like at least some are - partly - digested. Between 40 en 44 seconds an algea is being swallowed.

Good observation. The prey algae are all around, and very uniform. So, it looks like I was mistaken, and the other fellow you found had probably just eaten a full meal of chlorellae! :)
