Getting used to this now. Getting scared...

#1 Post by MZsarko » Tue Nov 03, 2020 6:14 pm

So I'm about $12,000 into my astrophotography hobby and now I'm considering a new Olympus microscope. I might need an interdiction at this point.

Sorry, but go for it!
I’m very happy between the two...more so on the microscope!

Any rough clue how big of a hole a new new Olympus with DIC and planapos would burn in my pocket?

New new? I have no idea. Very, very expensive.
If you want to spend serious money, I think a good choice would be to go for a used BX50 or BX51 with U Plan FL objectives and DIC. The Fluorites seem to be really good, and the stand would be very upgradeable.
Here's a couple of well-equipped ones from the big sellers as an indication of price. I don't think that eBay prices are exceptionally lower for this type of equipment.
