Re: Another Bursting
So does this mean that an IR or UV filter is needed to not cook the microbe? Or just dim the light more until the bursting stop?

I am using flashlights primarily. It may be the 60 X objective that does it.

At first I thought, what a neat ciliate. Then all of a sudden it gave a kind of shrug and burst open.
The question I have is what is that round thing that came out if it. Is that a parasite?

Sort of looks like it from the video. Have you considered trying thinner #1 cover glass rather than the more common #1.5? Gives a little more room to focus without squishing stuff.

Re: Another Bursting
good idea. What should look for?
Re: Another Bursting
Normally labeled "#1", "no. 1" or with thickness range "0.13 - 0.16 mm" but I am not sure what a good source would be in Canada. Where do you usually buy microscope stuff?
