Testate amoebae: Arcella

#1 Post by 75RR » Sat Jun 20, 2015 4:13 pm

25x, 95µm, Oblique
Saw some movement in the Arcella so I focused through it looking for the amoeba. Had no luck.
Posting the video as I thought some of you might find it interesting.

I found it very interesting.. Focusing in and out like you did allows others to see the complete object..

Thanks JimT. I am still waiting to catch an amoeba in one.

Nice. Have you considered using single frames from the video to construct a focus stack?

Thanks.
Not really as my video editing program does not save/make stills and I do not think screenshots would work very well.

I use VLC to play video on my computer and to take "snapshots" (single frames) and save them. The quality is very good. If you are interested, VLC is a free program (http://www.videolan.org/ ).

Funny you should mention VLC, that's the player I had the settings messed up on! Will try some "snapshots" with it.
Note: I hasten to add that it is a great video player - messed up setting were my fault!
