A couple of photos on a botanical theme.

#1 Post by SteveSteve » Sat Jun 20, 2015 5:56 pm

Afternoon All,

Here are a couple of photos taken with my old Lomo mic. Both were taken using the direct tube mounting my LUMIX fZ200 over the 40x objective. Both slides were in a set that I found while clearing up.

I also stacked the images. Never done that before so I jumped straight in with Zerene Stacker on Linux. I didn't fiddle with settings, just ran it as default. I think that there were 5 frames in the pollen pic and six in the fern one.

First up, a group of Lilly pollen.

Next, a fern sporangia and some spores (species unknown)

Cheers
Steve

Nice and stacking definitely improves DoF.

Thanks Jim,

The structures in the second photo certainly curve up and down in the vertical plane.
I was surprised how well it worked on default settings without any input from me. I am looking forward to some crisper optics in the near future.

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve - great start! Linux - scary - takes me back a few years!
Nice pictures - keep at it - you'll progress with it a lot faster than you'd think!

Looking again at your 2nd picture - it's got a very good '3D quality' about it - I can 'look into it' almost, very nice effect that.
Well done. :)
