Milk- Globules of fat

#1 Post by Manfred » Wed Oct 29, 2014 8:20 pm

A little drop of milk squezzed between slide and cover glass is showing you the globules of fat.
Milk is an emulsion of fat in an aqueous solution, called whey. The size of the pellets depends on the fat content of the milk.
You also can see the pellets in movement (not on the picture ;) ) - Brownian motion.

Like that image, it draws one in.
What fat content did it state on the carton?

Beautiful and interesting picture. And goes to show that there is no end to what one can put on a slide under the microscope.

A bit of milk added to paramecia (and other ciliates) makes the water movement visible.

Yes, I remember your video on the Microbe Hunter website that demonstrates so beautifully the water movement resulting from the cilia of the paramecium.
