Like the oblique effects. Both are good images and reveal different details. Was thinking of getting a phase contrast kit for my scope but with all the various filter combinations and having seen images with and without I am not convinced it's worth it.

Not sure to what filters you are referring to. Are you referring to cost when you say "worth it"?

All are very beautiful images! I very much like the colors as well as the detail. And that Zygnema is really gorgeous (especially the phase + oblique version which is beautifully sharp and detailed). Excellent work!

JimT, of course only you can determine whether phase contrast is worth it, but you could get some input by looking at phase contrast images on this forum:
"search.php?keywords=phase+contrast&term ... mit=Search"
and search Google Images for "Phase contrast microscopy", and http://www.microscopyu.com/articles/pha ... index.html
for example for starters.
