Can the "friend" be identified ? an amoeba ? or just a tiny marine plant fragment ?

I think 4K would have been needed to catch the finer detail - my Olympus E-P2 falls well below that!

Looked like an Euplotes to me when it briefly left its perch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euplotes
