Haematococcus

#1 Post by gekko » Mon Jul 20, 2015 5:07 pm

(Yet another) Haematococcus. I tried to desaturate CA color fringes to the extent possible without affecting the color of the cell (40x objective; phase contrast).

Many thanks to Crater Eddie for the water sample which continues to give!

Excellent! I'm glad that sample is still producing organisms!
I think good old haematococcus would be a good subject for a comparison of phase contrast and bright field imaging, especially if you can find one isolated cell again, like here.
Other illumination techniques would be interesting too, actually.

Thank you, CE. Yes, your Haematococcus are still doing well, although I've not seen swimming ones recently (maybe they'll come back). As it happens, yesterday evening I found a cluster, and thinking for a reason to post yet another image, I thought to do exactly what you suggest: I took images under all the illumination methods available to me. I'll post the images in another thread. Thanks again.
