Haematococcus
Haematococcus
(Yet another) Haematococcus. I tried to desaturate CA color fringes to the extent possible without affecting the color of the cell (40x objective; phase contrast).
Many thanks to Crater Eddie for the water sample which continues to give!

Re: Haematococcus
Excellent! I'm glad that sample is still producing organisms!
I think good old haematococcus would be a good subject for a comparison of phase contrast and bright field imaging, especially if you can find one isolated cell again, like here.
Other illumination techniques would be interesting too, actually.

Re: Haematococcus
Thank you, CE. Yes, your Haematococcus are still doing well, although I've not seen swimming ones recently (maybe they'll come back). As it happens, yesterday evening I found a cluster, and thinking for a reason to post yet another image, I thought to do exactly what you suggest: I took images under all the illumination methods available to me. I'll post the images in another thread. Thanks again.Crater Eddie wrote:Excellent! I'm glad that sample is still producing organisms!
