Found in saltwater aquarium...

#1 Post by houstontx » Sun Jul 26, 2015 10:22 pm

These were from samples taken from a local saltwater aquarium dealer. No ID's on any of them. All 40x obj. To be honest I was hoping for a little more variety. So far my freshwater aquarium filter has proved to be the most diverse...

I really like the 2nd algae pic where it looks like the cells are tied together with a knot.

Hi houstontx,
interesting samples. I have never tried to peer into salt water so I do not know what to expect.
I have found that in freshwater samples things change over time, so you might want to put the samples aside and have another look in a couple of weeks.
Like your first image and the two alga ones!

By the way did you manage to service/have serviced the trinocular lever?

Nice greens, and good clear images. Agree with 75RR that populations in a sample change over time. Worth going back periodically and looking.

I agree: both filamentous alga images are very beautiful (both the algae and the pictures).

I think nature sun light will increase biodiversity. But that change may not be good for your fish though.
