The floating brain

#1 Post by Plasmid » Sat Jul 03, 2021 4:40 pm

Trachelius ovum, another first for me. I found it odd that this ciliate was always found hanging around a vorticella colony, as if it was feeding on them. Odd behavior just boundcing up and down on the colony and not just one, multiple Trachelius. This behavior was observed with a stereo on a large petridish, has anyone encountered this in the past?

Nice video about Trachelius ovum, thanks Plasmid for sharing.
It is really a strange creature - very fascinating but also difficult to observe details.
If somebody is interested on more details pls. try the following link: https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/index. ... ic=37456.0
