Not sure what algae this is. At first I thought a straight Closterium but I think too big. Size about 580 X 60 um's. Lots of chloroplast moving about.

both terminal ends have those delightful dancing crystaloids..this is a desmid for certain! I guess we can look at image galleries of desmids to get an ID...at least a genus level ID. I'll offer my 2 cents ( read that as stick my neck out!) tommorow.

Charlie G. save your 2 cents. I think Closterium which can be crescent or straight. Definitely could see the dancing crystaloids.

I have observed closteriums before from a few of my pond samples but I never took a photo. Take a look at closterium nitzsch, perhaps one of those.
