Philodina citrina (Video)
This is the same rotifer that I was trying to ID. Now pretty much confirmed to be Philodina citrina.
Kept it overnight in a Slide Mailer. Took this video today.

Good video. What editing software do you use?
Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Many thanks.
I like the simplicity of iMovie. On my good days we are at the same level!
I use iMovie. I have Adobe Premiere (it came with CS4) but it is much too complicated. What editing software do you use?

Amazing video! Was that done by DIC?
Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Thanks.
Varying amounts of Oblique achieved by offsetting the Brightfield ring of my Phase Condenser. Was that done by DIC?

Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Excellent! You used oblique light very well.
And your photos on this subject (in your other thread) were done the same way as well? Have you tried the universal gradient filter?

Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Yes. If one offsets the Brightfield ring in a Phase Condenser far enough, one can get a Darkfield effect with low power objectives. And your photos on this subject (in your other thread) were done the same way as well?
I have a few homemade UGFs (as they all are) which I also use, I tend to alternate the way I achieve oblique.Have you tried the universal gradient filter?
The effect it gives depends on how the UGF turned out, practice and a little luck.
As in all these effects several things have to all come together at the same time.

Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Interesting. Is this the same creature we were trying to identify earlier? This one has a definite Corona where the other photos it was not readily apparent. Was it just a matter of watching until they were extended?
Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Ahhh.. yes I saw the Corona extended. Excellent video...
Re: Philodina citrina (Video)
Thanks einman.

Thanks Cyclops,
A Rotifer was one of the first things I saw through a microscope (with my Zeiss Junior), was instantly hooked!
