Some of my very first slides
These are some of the very first slides I made. These are from 1989 and 1990. All using balsam medium, and still in great condition.
Dragonfly Wing, Balsam mount, 40X, 11/12/1989
Shed lizard tail skin, 40X, Balsam mount, 7/22/1990
Spanish moss, Balsam mount, 40X, 1/8/1989

If I can't see it with my microscope, it ain't worth looking at.
Re: Some of my very first slides
Hey, those are very nice, great to look back on! The balsam has clearly made a very good job indeed (in your capable hands) of durably mounting. They look like they'll still be good after we're all gone! Thanks for the post, interesting to see these.

Thanks John, I'm surprised they're still in good shape, but they are. The slide with the Spanish Moss has a broken cover glass, but not over the specimen, so that's still ok.

Very good work! Good workmanship pays, I think.

Thanks gecko I just wonder how good I'd be by now if I was able to work with it more in the past.
