The desmid Euastrum verrucosum

#1 Post by tlansing » Wed Oct 18, 2023 11:58 am

Desmids are highly symmetrical and beautiful to see. Here are some views through three focal planes of a pair of Euastrum verrucosum. The objective was a 40x Neofluar (optovar 1.25x) on a Zeiss Photomicroscope III with DIC and flash. The camera is a Canon 1300D.

I always thought of desmids as on the short list of very prettiest things to see in our microscopes, and this species is one of the most interesting. AND one of the most difficult to get good images of, ask me how I know.

Your shots are doing it justice! :ugeek:
