Thin Slice of Carrot

I cut a piece of carrot into thin horizontal slices and examined the top and bottom of a slice. I saw thick, irregular cells. The tops of the cells appeared to be more closed--with cells closer together--than the cells seen from below.

Carrot Cells: macro view.

When compared with the micro view, the arrangement of cells seems confusing. In this view, the cells are set in columns with thickened tissue structures between.
