Diatomaceous garbage dump

#1 Post by microplan » Sun Apr 21, 2024 8:34 pm

Hello.
In today's sample taken from the container, I found a whole cluster of diatoms. It looked like some kind of diatomaceous garbage dump.
Initially, my attention was drawn to a rather long chain.
Based on the literature, I came to the conclusion that it is Tabellaria, but I may be wrong.
The video consists of five shots:
-first short shot - 20x lens
-next shot - 40x lens
- the next two - 100x immersion lens
- the last longest - 100x immersion lens plus an additional lens, but the effect was not the best.
In the last two shots, I was interested in the trapezoidal shape in which something was moving.
It looked like these microorganisms were eating something inside or were trapped inside.
I don't know how to interpret this.
When filming, I used PZO DIC, but at high magnifications the effect is not visible.

Regards
Maciej
