A Classic Microscopy Video
A Classic Microscopy Video
While tidying up my favorites folders I came across this classic video that I had all but forgotten, but which had much impact on me some years ago. I just watched it again and it's still just as wonderful as ever:

Re: A Classic Microscopy Video
Interesting. Film date is 1981 - which is about (plus or minus) the age of my microscope, yet the images my microscope produces are superior. I think this shows how much image capture has improved during this time with the advent of digital video and photography.
By the way I think you should post this in: Resources (online, books etc.)
It will simply get lost in Pictures and Video

Kurt, that's a very useful video indeed - I've downloaded it and watched it - I learned an awful lot from that little film! The lighting techniques are so simply demonstrated I understood them better than I have up to now. Thanks for this super link - very handy indeed. The polarizing-sunglasses demo has really brought it home to me just how easy a simple version may be to make! The Rheinberg and dark-field where also made to look easy enough to have a try at.
These techniques will be great for crystals such as raphides and druses that I see a lot within tissue but haven't been able to image with simple staining. Very good also for similarly transparent trichomes!
Great link, thanks.

Excellent introduction to microscopy. Covers the subject very succinctly, very clearly, and very accurately.

Easily done. But what would be a better, more descriptive title for the thread?75RR wrote:By the way I think you should post this in: Resources (online, books etc.)
Glad y'all like it as much as I did, the lighting demonstrations really helped me understand too. It's a lot of fun to nip a small square of tissue and use forceps to repeat the demonstrations on my own scopes!

Finally got a chance to watch this last night. Really nice film.
I could almost hear the sound of the film projector and the teacher cussing under her breath, trying to thread the film.
Thanks for the link
