Rerun-- old Haematococcus images
Rerun-- old Haematococcus images
I hope I'll be forgiven for posting again some of (what I think are) my better Haematococcus images that I (probably) posted a long time ago to the old forum. All were taken with a 20x objective.
Re: Rerun-- old Haematococcus images
Very nice. Had not seen these nor the last video you posted, "Peranema".
I think seeing the "Best of the Best" would be a treat for all of us.
Keep them coming. :)

Thanks for re-posting these. I have found a few of these colorful fellows in the cultures that I have re-constituted from my dried-up birdbath. My photos are pretty poor however.

Time to scrape your bird bath again. Great images but what gave then the neon colors?

I'm glad you liked them. I sure hope you will show us images from your reconstituted bath-- I'm sure you are being too critical about your photos, and equally, I'm sure we will enjoy seeing them.Crater Eddie wrote:Thanks for re-posting these. I had to replace my computer which was getting more and more erratic, and I fell for one of Windows' nasty tricks-- it swapped the names of my external drives, and I stupidly formatted the wrong one that had many of my images on it, so I was spending time trying to recover what I could Thank you for your comment: colors I guess are a result of the method of illumination, #1, #2, & #4 phase contrast, #3 brightfield, #5 & #6 DIC.JimT wrote:Time to scrape your bird bath again. Actually, the colors aren't all artifacts, Haematococcus can appear as green with a red spot in the center, just as in photo #4.gekko wrote:I had to replace my computer which was getting more and more erratic, and I fell for one of Windows' nasty tricks-- it swapped the names of my external drives, and I stupidly formatted the wrong one that had many of my images on it, so I was spending time trying to recover what I could Thank you for your comment: colors I guess are a result of the method of illumination, #1, #2, & #4 phase contrast, #3 brightfield, #5 & #6 DIC.
