Starting to see green stuff now that Spring is arriving. These are two images of a longitudinal section (LS) of a daisy leaf central vein. Methylene blue stained, 40x obj. Pretty happy with this section as only two cells thick. Lots of chloroplasts and cellular spaces visible.

When you say "longitudinal section (LS) of a daisy leaf central vein" what do you mean old chap, I'm trying to visualize which tissue this is...?

You've definitely got the measure of this technique here Jim, the section is superbly clear and intact, very well executed to my eyes. The colours and textures of the living cells so finely demonstrated in your images are a sheer delight to me!

John, think of the stem that holds the leaf and how it continues down the center of the leaf to the tip from which smaller veins branch off toward the edges. Maybe I misnamed but that is what I sectioned.

JimT, it just hit me: how on earth did you manage to slice through a thin leaf longitudinally?!

Gekko, not the leaf but the vein which is a little thicker. Lay the leaf on a flat surface and use a razor blade. Took quite a few attempts.

Thank you, JimT. WHen I saw it the first time, I understood it as you described, but for some reason, the second time I looked at it I was confused...

I am looking for LM images of daisy leaf for a science textbook, wondering if you would give permission to use yours.
