Fur beetle larvae

#1 Post by hkv » Tue Mar 29, 2016 8:57 pm

Here are some pictures of a fur beetle larvae. Some of the stacked images are a little blurry because I could not get him to lay still. I tried ether, but it did not help. I hope you like them.

Full body. Brightfield.

Olympus UplanFl. I use 4x, 10x, 20x, 40x and 100x. Actually they are Phase, but I did not use the phase condensor for these images.

Those are very nice images. I work with insects around my place when I have time.

Thanks, Gekko and Rodney!

Unfortunately, a fur beetle larvae is nothing you want to find inside the house since it eats your furs and clothes. The adult animal is a brown beetle with dark spots on its back. They are harmless, but the larvae is a pain.

Really nice images.
I love my arthropods. They are all really nice images but I'll stick my neck out and go for the transmitted light one (I assume the last one is lit that way). The close image of head and glow effect is fab.

:)

Thanks Vaselle & Billben74! The last one is darkfield. I did not use ambient light, but only the built in light source.
