Enough phase contrast, back to the abbe condenser and darkfield stop. Much prettier.

Nice! What is that little circular thing in the upper right corner of the third image? Looks man made...

That is a bubble with the reflection of the darkfield stop in it.

I am wondering the exact same thing. Maybe a bubble reflecting hollow cone of light from condenser?
