Oblique lighting

#1 Post by Radazz » Thu Sep 01, 2016 5:38 pm

Just got some new stops on eBay, and this one seems to work best.
Not sure what this little beastie is, any guesses?

Hard to tell. What magnification did you use and how big was it. My best guess is a paranema but as I said, "Hard to tell."

Can't begin to help with an ID I'm afraid, but what a lovely crisp video with superbly dark field - very nice indeed. :)

Very nice image (can't tell about critter), but, as John said, it is darkfield.

Somewhat different from a regular DF stop, this one has a spot and a ring around it.

Sounds like the 'circular oblique' version perhaps. 'COL' maybe? :)

This was the 10 x brightfield objective. Camera is about 20x.

I've seen a YouTube video of this little elephant nosed guy, but I've been totally frustrated trying to find a reference. Sorry,

I have the exact set of COL filters. #6 is way too big to produce oblique / COL for 10x objective. In OP's video, it produced darkfield.

I am confused as to how you determine the camera is about 20X.

Camera is roughly equivalent to a 40x occular. With a 0.5x reduction snoot, about 20x.
20 x 10 (10x occular) =~200x magnification

Hi Jim,
I will tentatively suggest lacrymaria olor.
Hope this helps.
