Onion skin

These are a result of my attempt at getting images from onion skin. I also tried iodine tincture staining, but I was not successful. All images were taken with the 20x objective.

Like number 3. Xylem. Works as a record and as a photograph.
I am tempted to have a go.
No microtome, do have a surgical blade though.
Any tips?

Saw it: beautiful! As to microtomes, I merely peeled by hand a thin "skin" from the onion and then cut a roughly square piece a few mm to the side. No microtomes or surgical blades needed.
