Damselfly nymph video
Damselfly nymph video
This video is a bit different from most.
This is from an algae mat, collected using my plankton net from a slow moving stream. Not being an entomologist I was pretty clueless as to what kind of nymph it was, but was fascinated watching it crawl around in the Spirogyra. I decided that to ID it I would need photos or video of all views so I could work it out later. I just let the GH4 run while I watched, so I wouldn't miss any view I'd need for ID. It was in a petri dish with about 5 or 6 ml of water, and shot in dark field using my Olympus SZH stereo scope. The video files were nice enough it seemed to need a different treatment from most microscopy videos.
So, the editing is much more cinematic than usual, the music is more dramatic, it's a little longer at about 4 minutes, and it has captions and references since it will be used in my outreach presentations.
Also, it's shot and uploaded in 4K, so watch it at the highest resolution you can. It does make a difference.
This turned out to be much more work than I originally anticipated, but I'm pretty happy with the result. I hope you enjoy it too.

Very enjoyable and informative video, with excellent, clear image quality (even the spirogyra are very clear and sharp). Beautiful work!
