Maple Leaf Pt. III

#1 Post by JimT » Fri Oct 21, 2016 10:58 pm

Even more maple leaf stem. I warned y'all not to encourage me:-)

Yes John, it is a TS of a Petiole and as you suggested that explains the unfamiliar vascular arrangement.

Any way, here are three more. First one is from today, a two exposure stitched image with the 10X obj. Second image is from October 20 with the 4X obj. Both give an overview of the vascular arrangement around the stem. BTW, the first image is stained with toluidine blue. The others with methylene blue.

The third image is also from Oct 20 with the 20X obj. which gives a good view of the progression from the epidermis to the pith.

Thanks John to your suggestions on how to use the toluidine stain.

Lovely blue through green "wash" effect.
Especially the third image.
I love it.

Thanks Rod. These things can be addictive. Seems like each petiole is different.
