Katzenfloh

#1 Post by Manfred » Sat Oct 22, 2016 6:14 pm

Hallo,

eine unserer Katzen "spendierte" einen Katzenfloh, eine gute Gelegenheit, dass Tierchen unter dem Mikroskop zu betrachten.
Nach einigen Tagen zur Aufhellung in KOH war es hell genug zur Beobachtung.
Alle Bilder wurden mit Zeiss Standard 16 und Zeiss Planapos gemacht, Kamera Canon EOS 750, gestackt mit Picolay.
Viel Spaß beim Betrachten ;)

Great images. Particularly the higher magnification ones.
After a few days of brightening in KOH, it was bright enough to observe.
What is KOH?

Excellent images, Manfred....thank you. Our large dogs 'bristle' at the thought of fleas.

I (unfortunately) have removed deer ticks from my body twice this year...no need for KOH...the specimens are quite anatomically reveaing.

Your images are superb....thanks again,Manfred. charlie guevara/ fingerlakes,US

Fantastic images. Super sharp.
I presume that Aufhellung translates better as "clearing" rather than "lightening"?
(I clear insects with Sodium Hydroxide)

Thanks for all nice comments, and sorry for writing most time in German language, reason is - my English knowledge is too poor

@ 75RR: Unfortunately no link found in the net, so I can provide only a picture which describes the method for lightening with KOH, sorry

Given that it dissolved the little beasties insides I will go with clearing as well.

Manfred your images are wonderful. Please post in German if you prefer. I learnt a little german when I was at school but have forgotten most of it. But enjoy using google translate and trying figure out what people are saying (same is true for french).

Manfred Ihre Bilder sind wunderbar. Bitte senden Sie in Deutsch, wenn Sie es vorziehen. Ich habe gelernt, ein wenig Deutsch, als ich in der Schule war, aber haben das meiste vergessen. Aber viel Freude mit Google Translate und versuchen, herauszufinden, was die Leute sagen (das gleiche gilt für Französisch).

If you are using Windows, you can right click on the text and select the option "translate to English"...

I think you will find that your "right click and translate function" does not work that well with jpegs.

Maybe you can type in enough to get what is meant.. I think that translating "Kalilauge" would get you enough to look up the equivalent in English to use.. Potassium hydroxide is used as a clearing agent here..
