Another shell. Pearlescent marine.

#1 Post by billben74 » Tue Dec 20, 2016 11:05 pm

Inspired by my previous encounter with a snail shell from my garden, see

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4179&hilit=shell

I bought a bag of small shells.Amazing what you can buy on the internet these days.

Here is my rough cut of a large stitch and stack of a shell. Reflected light x4 na 0.10 plan achromat objective, 1200D canon, zerine stacker and microsoft ICE for stitching. This is a fairly big job, about 4000 images taken and I still have some work ahead of me to polish (ha ha) it off. Hopefully I can iron out some its photographic imperfections.
But after spending a fair amount of time to getting to this point I fancied posting.

Fantastic! What a job!
What is the final resolution of the image after stitching?

Many thanks gekko and hkv.
14107x 14044. I'm not very efficient, but the shell is deep, about 300 in a stack some places.

4000 images and you aren't done yet!!

Wow what devotion. The results are worth it- great light and colors. Flawless stitch as far as I can see.

Well done!
