Stamen - Thunbergia alata

#1 Post by RudiV » Thu Apr 27, 2017 6:16 pm

I have been playing around with epi-illumination on some of my favorite plant subjects. Initially I found it quite difficult as my scope arrived with a broken lamp and the closest substitute I had was only 15W and not the original 50W, I ordered lamps but shipping is slow to this part of the world.

This morning I was in the local super-market looking for something when my eye caught the word "Osram"! Huge was my surprise to find the exact 12W 50W halogen lamp I needed! They carry a whole range of halogen lamps including the often used 20 and 30W models.

Suddenly with the extra light things are easier, shorter exposures and less shadows. Here is the first image illuminated by the super-market lamp!

Thunbergia alata (Black-eyed Susan) stamen, 5x objective, 33 image stack.

Thanks for looking,
Rudi
