Agree with Crater Eddie. very nice.
Could you post some details like diatom size and objective used, if you stacked etc...? Thanks

Thanks!

1: Olympus UplanFL 40X DIC, no stacking.
2: Olympus UplanFL 40X Dark Field, 7 images stacked using Zerene.
3: Olympus UplanFL 40x Dark Field, no stacking
4: Olympus UplanFL 40X Dark Field, no stacking

I did not measure the size unfortunately, but I would guess 50-100 microns

These are all I've got for now. Actually my first images taken with the scope. I will try some more diatoms with the 60X/100X oil to see if I can crank up the resolution a bit. It should be possible to squeeze out some more crispness and resolution than these show. Also, they show quite heavy chromatic aberration which may improve using immersion oil. I will give it a try.

What camera are you using and what post processing? Really good for first images.
Keep shooting!

Excellent and very beautiful pictures! Did you use a prepared slide of diatoms or did you prepare it yourself and if so where did you get the diatoms from?

You obviously have some great optics there. We would love to see some photos of your setup in the My Microscope section.

Thanks everyone. I will try to answer all questions. :)

I have an Olympus BX51 with DIC and Phase. The camera is a Canon 6D (full frame). I have not yet published anything in the "My Microscope" section. I will do so shortly.
I use Lightroom 5 for post processing, but I am still learning. Also Zerene for stacking. Bought the Camera, Lightroom and Zerene only weeks ago. Before that, I was only watching live...

I usually try to white balance, sharpen and crop the images. That is basically the limit of my lightroom skill (yet). On the last image, I also made the blue stand out a little more than in the RAW image.

The Diatoms comes from one of Klaus Kemp prepared slides. I have not yet collected, cleaned and mounted my own slide of diatoms.

I am little disappointed with the lack of sharpness with the 6D. Might be that I am experiencing vibration, but I have tried very high ISO with short exposure times and very low ISO with really long exposure times and the images looks pretty much the same. This leads me to conclude that it cannot be due to vibration. Investigation and experiments will continue.

The BX51 is a serious instrument, my congratulations to you. I have never had the pleasure of using one myself, but have spent some time drooling over the brochures.
