Re: More from Kamyshlov Russia
Beautifully done, Rod!
The last diatom looks like a difficult one to image.
Have you tried digitally inverting a BF/oblique image to dark background? I am curious how it would look like. Photo #1 may be easier to invert than others.

Thanks zz.
I will give inverting these a try and post the results when I get home tonight.
The last type does seem to be difficult, this is my second attempt, and it still seems less sharp than I would like. Thanks for the interest.

Re: More from Kamyshlov Russia
You should be proud of all of them. Number four is truly unique.

Thanks Bill, Seb and Jim! I appreciate you commenting.

Re: More from Kamyshlov Russia - Inverted Images Added
Thank you, Rod.
The inversion turns out very well overall, especially #1 and #3, don't you think?
#2 has slightly uneven lighting (contrast) to start with, which is almost unavoidable with offset oblique, and that shows up in the inverted image too.
#4 is probably a form that rarely lies flat, which makes it difficult to get even contrast, I am guessing. I cannot remember where I saw its alternative view, but it is very different (what you are showing is probably a side view).
#5 seems to have dense dot patterns and is quite thick, which makes is a natural distortion lens.

Great shots! I really like the inverted ones. Inverted #2 looks like SEM.

Yes, I think it is a nice effect. Adding it to the bag of tricks.
I agree with your comments on the individual shots.
Thanks for the prompt to give it a try

Rod,
Another benefit of doing that is that you can use you apo objectives, which produce less false color or coma (halo) than your infinity plan achromats. False colors did remain in digital inversion, as you can see.
