Nice video! So the coleps did not get hurt at all, after the incident? Thanks.

Thank you.
The coleps was seriously injured and didn't survive. But this incident wasn't so bad for the lacrymaria because it can grow a new head.

What an amazing video! I just read that the Coleps has toxicysts that it uses to immobilize its prey; I wonder if these had any effect on the Lacrymaria (it takes several minutes for the poison to work). Really a very fascinating video -- A person can learn quite a bit from the posts in these forums!

Hi Microbia, I want to compliment you on this outstanding video. I spent many hours observing and recording Lacrymaria olor and know how hard it is to capture one of them in the act of feeding. I have observed the loss of a "head," but never recorded this event as you did in your video. I'm no longer active in the microscopy hobby and now days have only one scope. a rarely used and inexpensive Chinese model. You've shown that even with inexpensive equipment, outstanding results can be obtained. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill. Thanks so much for your compliment. I indeed spent a lot of days recording lacrymaria and waiting for a moment of it catching something.
It's a pity you stopped uploading your videos on youtube.
