Nice video! So the coleps did not get hurt at all, after the incident? Thanks.
Re: Lacrymaria olor loses its head trying to eat a coleps
Thank you.
The coleps was seriously injured and didn't survive. But this incident wasn't so bad for the lacrymaria because it can grow a new head.

What an amazing video! I just read that the Coleps has toxicysts that it uses to immobilize its prey; I wonder if these had any effect on the Lacrymaria (it takes several minutes for the poison to work). Really a very fascinating video -- A person can learn quite a bit from the posts in these forums!

Hi Microbia, I want to compliment you on this outstanding video. I spent many hours observing and recording Lacrymaria olor and know how hard it is to capture one of them in the act of feeding. I have observed the loss of a "head," but never recorded this event as you did in your video. I'm no longer active in the microscopy hobby and now days have only one scope. a rarely used and inexpensive Chinese model. You've shown that even with inexpensive equipment, outstanding results can be obtained. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill. Thanks so much for your compliment. I indeed spent a lot of days recording lacrymaria and waiting for a moment of it catching something.billporter1456 wrote:Hi Microbia, I want to compliment you on this outstanding video. It's a pity you stopped uploading your videos on youtube.
