Oyster mushroom 100x

#1 Post by kit1980 » Fri Jul 07, 2017 8:28 am

Wild oyster mushroom (Pleurotus sp.) spores, mounted in lactophenol cotton blue, 100x objective, inverted bright field image:

Non-spore cells from the same slide - where the mushroom touched the glass during spore-printing - 100x objective, inverted bright field, two photos stitched because it was slightly larger than the field of view:

Nice! They work well inverted - better actually. (Out of curiosity I grabbed them and inverted them back in photoshop)

By the way if you rotate the images (which are 1024 x 768) by 90 degrees they would appear larger.
Microbehunter page size restricts width to about 850 pixels.

I shot these with the intention to make inverted images - somewhat overexposed. Also I made blacks much darker in post-processing plus some other adjustments, so inverted back image is different from the original.

I linked each of the images to Flickr (as I usually do in my posts), so one click distance to a version without 850 px limitation.

Looks even better in flickr and you get to keep the orientation :)
