Golden Algae

#1 Post by hkv » Thu Sep 14, 2017 9:12 pm

In a recent freshwater sample I found a lot of golden algae. I believe these are Synura and Dinobryon. Both colonies had several layers of cells/members and were extremely difficult to stack without various artifacts and swirls. Took some manual retouching to get a decent result. Anyhow, here they are and I find he Dinobryon extremely beautiful. Just like a "bouquet de fleurs" except for being only micrometers in size. 60X objective.

And well said!

I just love Dinobryon, such graceful, elegant shapes those tiny crystal vases have.

Stunning. That first one is world class work (well to my eyes at least).
