Poinsettia

#1 Post by JimT » Sat Dec 23, 2017 11:43 pm

OK, to copy John B. here are two images of a poinsettia stem TS with red food dye and TBO stain. Both with the 10X obj.

First one is dark field. Not nearly as good as John's but shows the difference between live cells and cleansed sections between his image and this one.

Second image is same area in bright field.

Hah!
These are very nice Jim! I really like the dark-field - great intense colours. I'm always amazed by the results you get with those nifty food-dyes - you have the magic-touch with them. I also like the fine and undamaged epidermis - a very clean-cut by the look of it - great technique old chap.

Another treat - always love perusing your hand-sections, and always a new subject - very apt this one I think!

Nice post Jim,

John B. :D :D :)

Yes the darkfield definitely emphasizes some features.
