Might be a rotifer, not sure

I've found several of these while looking for tardigrades, and from the shape of them I'm pretty sure they are rotifers, but like this one they just do not rotify, they just lay there like a dead elk. What's with these guys? Are they in a coma or something?

Killed by sample contamination perhaps? was much else alive? I rinse my slides in tank water now as I have loaded a few in the past where all the organisms were as dead as hammers.
